BBS Bandung applauds Top Performers in A Level and IGCSE exams

Bina Bangsa School Bandung proudly announces the outcomes of the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and Advanced Level examinations administered in May-June 2023. The results were unveiled on August 16, 2023, at the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR).

Top Performers

Leading the achievers in the Advanced Level examinations for Junior College students is Benevolence Zoe, securing an impressive 4 A stars. Benevolence has distinguished herself as the top performer among the Junior College candidates at BBS Bandung.

In the realm of IGCSE, Venancius Farrel Lesmana of JC 1 stands out, attaining a remarkable 8 A stars in the Secondary 4 examinations. In an interview, Venancius shared his aspirations, stating, “These grades will demonstrate to universities my dedication to achieving my goals and will significantly contribute to my pursuit of admission to my dream school, the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, where I plan to study Computer Science.”

Record-Breaking!

Remarkably, the IGCSE candidates of the 2023 batch have etched their names in BBS Bandung’s history by achieving the highest number of A stars in Sociology. Mr. Melvin A. Nifas, a teacher in Sociology, expressed his pride in the students’ accomplishment, citing a record-breaking 15 A stars and 7 A’s in Sociology. He acknowledged the students’ hard work and sacrifices, emphasizing that their dedication had truly paid off.

Discussing the significance of these results, Mr. Nifas highlighted that distinctions in IGCSE could bolster university applications, offering students insights into their admission status and helping them discern their interests and passions. The results, he added, pave the way for students to identify their academic inclinations, whether in sciences, mathematics, or social sciences, thereby guiding their future course choices in university.

55 A stars

Furthermore, the IGCSE candidates collectively amassed an impressive total of 55 A stars across the 11 subjects in the examination. Ms. Emeliana Hipol Németh, the head of the examination committee, expressed optimism about the students’ achievements, anticipating that this success would propel them toward their desired universities. She also conveyed confidence that this batch of IGCSE students would continue to excel in their upcoming A Level examinations.
