The Forgotten Village

In the land of the rising sun everyone thinks about their food, anime and other entertainment that comes from Japan. And yet, it has a secret not many people know. This chilling reality of Japan will always last forever even in a thousand years. It is called the Inunaki Village, a cursed place without faith or law. Some might say that the people that go in never come out.

The Inunaki Village is one of the most famous Japanese urban legends. The village is said to be located near the Inunaki area in Fukuoka prefecture. It is said that the only way to get in is through a dark tunnel. According to Wikipedia, the village is described as small and easy to miss. Near the village entrance is a handwritten sign that says, “The law of Japan is not recognized here.”

According to local legend, in the early 1970s a young couple was on their way to Hisayama by car. The couple went to the forest when their car broke down. They entered the tunnel seemingly unaware of the Inunaki village where a lunatic old man greeted them and murdered the couple with a sickle.

They say this death with a sickle is far from swift and painless, as one’s last look is bound to be a horror that might not even let one’s spirit rest.

Right as the sickle was brought down on these unfortunate lovers, they saw what they hadn’t noticed before. Behind and between the small buildings there were the dilapidated corpses of the dead, and more of them laying all around.

They had the same gruesome wound, same gruesome face…because they have all been killed by the crazy old man.

Some people might say that the real Inunaki Village has been closed to prevent people from entering due to the cruel murders that took place. It has been years and years and the world still hasn’t solved the mystery of the Inunaki village and what it hides inside. Whether the tales are true, whether the tunnels really lead to a ghost town and your inevitable doom, we may never know. We may only hope to never be caught up in such a horror in real life by avoiding suspicious figures and dark corners of the cities.
