On the 13-14th of October, my friends from Secondary 1 Teamwork and Logic and I went to Taman Safari Bogor. In the beginning, the early morning bus ride came off as a bit of a shock to us due to its untimely nature, but we were excited nonetheless.
Firstly, we gathered in the lobby along with our parents and took a group photo. After that, we walked over to the big bus that would take us to Bogor – the trip took quite a while, lasting 3-4 hours. We made up for it by taking several stops on the highway to get some snacks and drinks. By this time, our feet and legs were starting to feel numb and sore, but after what felt like an eternity, we’d finally arrived at Taman Safari Bogor.
After we got off the bus, we took another group photo and we were off to launch the field trip by taking off in the Taman Safari tour bus. The tour guide introduced us to the diverse species of animals at Taman Safari Bogor and all of its wildlife.
First, we got to see some flamingos resting in shallow water. Next, we saw elephants, deers, tapirs, hippopotamuses, camels and countless other animals. There were two animals in particular that I loved: first was the ankole watusi – which is an endangered species of American cattle. It is known for its huge, long horns, spanning a whopping 2 meters in length. The second is the dusty wallaby, which is also an endangered species. It is like a mini kangaroo; while the average Australian Kangaroo weighs 40 to 50 kilograms, the dusty wallaby only weighs 5 to 10 kilograms.
We also stopped by the elephant and tiger behind-the-scenes facility, where we got to see the animals up close and learn new things about them. After the trip, we returned to our personal caravans where we spent the night.
Day 2 was also really fun – we enjoyed the rides in the theme park, and afterwards, we packed up and were ready to go back to Bandung. In the middle of the journey back, we went to eat lunch; it was incredibly nice even though it was considerably simple.
My friends and I definitely had an amazing and fun time at Taman Safari Bogor. This experience was such a spectacular experience to learn more and also helped us realize how diverse our world of animals is.
