A gallery of colours: BBS Bandung’s Classroom Decoration Contest

Jennifer Kelly Lukito, Secondary 1 Logic

As a student, why do you think that classroom decoration is important?

In my opinion classroom decoration is important because it can enhance your teamwork with your classmates. It can also make the classroom look pretty and it can impress guests who are visiting BBS. Without decorations, guests can be bored easily and it makes the classroom look boring and bland. The school’s effort to make the students participate in beautifying the environment is to make it a contest so students will be more creative and competitive. This year, Bina Bangsa School conducted a classroom decorations contest.

This year’s theme is “Impact Challenge.”  The criteria for judging are relevance to the theme, usability, punctuality, creativity, and originality. All the students from S1 – JC1 participated in the contest. The winner got a class certificate and goody bags while second and third place received class certificates.

S1-Logic classroom theme is Ghibli. The colourful walls make the classroom look interesting and it also makes the classroom look joyful. Its patterns make it look cute and pretty and the bright coloured classroom makes it appealing.

S3-Courage classroom’s theme is stained glass. The classroom is truly a remarkable piece of artwork as it is inspired by stained glass windows. The designs are also very detailed, and when you go inside the room it really feels like you are in a cathedral with stained glass windows.

S2-Wisdom classroom theme is “Kung Fu Panda”.  When you walk in, it is like you are entering a movie because of how it looks. The classroom is also very detailed and it is like being in China. Its colourful walls are truly beautiful.

S4-Passion classroom theme is space. It seems like you are in space with the colours of the walls looking like the milky way. The walls are also very detailed and very interesting to look at.

S4-Zeal classroom theme is “Inside Out.”  The colourful walls make the classroom more appealing and interesting to look at and the board is unique and design is detailed. The classroom represents brightness. It is also eye – catching to any passerby.

This year’s Classroom Decoration Contest winner is S4- Zeal. Owen, the representative of the winning class said, “The decor leaders opened suggestions from the class and we gathered roughly close to 10 suggestions, some include anime, video games and more. We then held a vote to find the most popular idea and that idea was “Inside Out.” He also said, “We won 2 certificates from the awarding. We have already put these certificates on the railing used for the memory balls on the side of the wall in the inside notice board. As for the goodie bags, each student received 1 Silver Queen bar, 1 jelly drink and 1 pack of Garuda Rosta which, of course, we all ate and drank.”

Now that we know the winners, always remember to do your best and don’t forget to have fun. Maybe, next year you will have a chance to win.
